About the Ohio Coffee Trail
Ohio Coffee Trail is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built around a simple idea: coffee can be a starting point for discovering a community.
Independent coffee shops are often among the first places people experience when visiting a town. They are gathering places, locally owned businesses, entrepreneurial spaces, and places where visitors can begin to understand the people and personality of a community.
Ohio Coffee Trail connects those shops and communities with people looking for places worth exploring.
Through the Trail, we encourage visitors to discover independent coffee shops, explore the communities surrounding them, support other local businesses, and experience more of Ohio along the way.
But our work goes beyond creating a trail.
We also create opportunities for coffee shops, tourism organizations, chambers, community partners, and others to work together to increase visibility, encourage local spending, strengthen tourism, and tell the stories of Ohio communities.
Coffee may be where the journey starts. Community is what makes it matter.
Why Coffee?
Across Ohio, locally owned coffee shops often play an outsized role in their communities. They are gathering places, entrepreneurial businesses, welcoming spaces, and natural starting points for discovering a town.
Coffee is something people already seek out when they travel. Ohio Coffee Trail uses that natural connection to introduce visitors to independent coffee shops and then encourage them to look beyond the cup and experience the community around it.
A coffee stop can become a downtown visit, a local purchase, a new restaurant, an unexpected attraction, or a reason to return.
Coffee gets people through the door. Community gives them a reason to stay and explore.
Our Purpose
Ohio Coffee Trail exists to connect independent coffee shops, visitors, and communities in ways that create meaningful local impact.
Through the Trail, we work to increase visibility for locally owned coffee shops, encourage travel and exploration throughout Ohio, support local spending, and help tell the stories of the communities behind each stop.
We believe coffee can be a powerful connector between tourism, small business, entrepreneurship, and community development.
The Trail isn't about ranking the “best” coffee shops or creating competition between communities.
It's about giving people more reasons to discover Ohio, one community and one cup at a time.

Where We Are Now

Building on the Trail's early development, we are expanding relationships with independent coffee shops, communities, tourism organizations, chambers, and other partners while creating new ways for people to experience and explore Ohio.
Our next phase will focus on strengthening the experience for participating coffee shops and visitors, developing community and regional partnerships, expanding the Trail thoughtfully across Ohio, and creating sustainable opportunities to support the organization's mission.
There's more brewing, and we're just getting started.
